Singapore's water sources
Singapore has four main water sources. They are the water catchment, imported water, desalinated water and Newater. We can see that is important to keep our waters clean and free from pollution as we are dependent on three main sources for our own survival. Thus, we see many effforts to produce clean water such as making used water potable in Newater or organisations like Saving Gaia and Save The Bay. There are also many water conservation awareness efforts like Water Wally.

In Singapore, we are fortunate to enjoy a stable and accessible water supply. However, a few years back, Singapore was facing a serious problem of water shortage. The population increased in the 1960s and 1970s, therefore that worsened the problem of water shortage and and it threatened the nation’s water supply. Certain strategies had to be put in place to help Singapore overcome its water shortage. Still, having a stable water supply now does not assure Singapore a lifelong supply. In other parts of the world, many people still do not have access to clean water.
